Getting married in Fiji? Dreaming of a Fiji wedding? The FAQs answer some of the most common questions we’re asked by couples planning a wedding in Fiji.
What is the best time to have the wedding ceremony in Fiji?
With Fiji’s temperature climate with warm weather all year round, any time, day or night, is suitable for your Fiji wedding ceremony. Typically, most couples choose to hold their wedding ceremony between 2-5 pm.
How many wedding guests can the resorts accommodate?
The number of guests each resort can accommodate depends on the size of the resort and the capacity of their reception room or area. The outer island resorts aren’t as large as the mainland resorts so are unable to accommodate a large of guests. If you are planning a big wedding, we recommend opting for one of the larger mainland resorts like the InterContinental, Sofitel, Outrigger or Shangri-La. Contact our friendly team for advice on the best resort to accommodation your guest numbers.
How long does the wedding ceremony usually last?
Typically, the wedding ceremony lasts 15-20 minutes.
Do the ceremony serenaders take song requests?
This varies from serendader to seranader. Some won’t take song requests and only sing traditional Fijian hymns.  Others are happy to take song requests. Speak to your Fiji Bride wedding specialist for more information.
Can we book a restaurant at the resort exclusively for our wedding?
This varies depending on the resort where your wedding is being held.  At the larger resorts, there are dedicated wedding function rooms so there is no need to book a restaurant.  The restaurants are for the use of all guests and it’s not possible to rent them out.  At some of the smaller, outer island resorts you can reserve the restaurant for a private function but this varies from resort to resort.  Speak to your Fiji Bride wedding specialist for more information.
If we choose to hold the wedding reception outdoors, does the resort provide access to lights and music?
Yes, all our wedding resorts are suitably equipped to accommodate outdoor receptions with lights and music provided.
What decorations do the resorts offer as part of their Fiji wedding packages?

Whilst each resort is different, most offer the following:

  • bridal table and seating for all guests,
  • cake table
  • seating, chair and table covers,
  • table decorations – this varies for each resort
  • cutleries, crockery, napkins, glasses,
  • wishing well,
  • welcome signage, seating plan and place cards
  • lights
What is the choice of seasonal wedding flowers in Fiji?

Is there a cut off time for the wedding reception to end?

This varies for each resort. The standard cut-off time for wedding receptions in Fiji is usually 10 pm.  It’s important to note that other guests are staying at their resort and they need to be considered. Many of the larger resorts have nightclubs where your guests can kick on after your wedding reception.

If you want your wedding reception to continue long into the night, we can suggest resorts that have more flexibility in this regard.  Another consideration is to hold your wedding in a private residence on one of the outer islands. These luxury residences are usually separate from other resort accommodations so party noise isn’t such a problem.

Are wedding guests allowed to bring their own alcohol to the reception function?
No, BYO alcohol is strictly prohibited at all resorts. If you want to supply your own alcohol, please let our team know and we can suggest alternative arrangements.
Do the resorts cater for special dietary requirements like vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc?
Yes, most resorts will cater for special dietary requirements. Please let us know if this is the case so we can liaise with the resort directly.
Do kids eat free at Fiji weddings?
It really depends on the resort and your wedding package.  Speak to your Fiji Bride wedding specialist and we’ll advise you of the conditions of the kids’ meal policies for each package.
When do you require the final guest count?
Usually, we ask you to confirm the final guest count 30 days prior to the wedding date.
Can we hire nannies to look after the children?
Nanny services are available at all the resorts (except adults only resorts).  Nannies are permitted to stay with the children during the ceremony and reception at the request of the guest.
